Design your own Resistance Parachute!

Students learned about different forces by making their own air resistance parachutes out of grocery bags, tape and string. I wanted to make a project where students learn about/feel different forces, learn about aligning seams, and to get a break from sitting in front of a computer to go run outside!

Part 1: Draft your own resistance parachute:

  3. Draft out your design for your resistance parachute, take a photo of it

  4. Share that photo on Seesaw

  5. Collect your materials for next class: at least 3 grocery plastic bags, packaging tape, scissors, string and a belt

Make your own Resistance Parachute: Part 2

  1. Gather your materials: 3 Grocery bags, 4 meters of string, packaging tape, scissors and a belt

  2. Watch the instructional video you can pause, rewind, and fast forward at your own pace.

  3. Take a video of your final resistance parachute prototype

  4. At the end of your video share with me: How you felt when you ran with your parachute What happened when you moved faster? What happened when you moved slower?
